It is a loseless codec that claims to cut file sizes in half without any quality loss. It is $150 but it could easily pay for itself if you are a .vob guy buying 200gb drives every week

But .vob files aren't uncompressed. Private people don't use uncompressed video. DV or MPEG are the standards (and MJPEG was)

I think you misunderstand what this does. This Lossless codec achieves the 2:1 compression ratio on RAW video. DVDs are already highly compressed (around 40:1). Meaning, if you were to use this codec on your DVDs they would take up approximately 20x the space.


I'm guessing those with 200GB hard drives would like to fit more than 2movies on their drives.

Another lossless compression is HuffYUV, which also has great compression for lossless video.
