We're using the MyHD software. This is required to interact properly with the customized hardware on the card. It is really pretty simple; if you can use a remote to change channels on a TV, you (and your wife) should be able to operate this device. Having said that, I still have not scheduled my training session with my wife, so she still watches TV on the cruddy 13 inch tube in my home office instead of on my beautiful High-Def Samsung DLP which is driven by MyHD.... :)

It will not pause and fast forward a live broadcast, but you can do so with a recorded program. Only the Access card will pause a live broadcast.

To schedule recordings, go to TitanTV, set up an account. You schedule a recording by clicking on the red button for each program.

You can watch DVDs with MyHD and it will upconvert to the resolution you specify, but you will need some program to deal with the Macrovision copy protection scheme on copy protected DVDs (most DVD). I use DVDIdle for that, but there are other options.

You can also use a stand alone program to watch DVDs just through your computer, although that probably requires at least a 1 Mhz CPU, where with MyHD the processing is done by the card.

You can get Tivo-like behavior using a MyHD as an HD recorder and a SW HD player for playback but WAF could be an issue.

MyHD is great for what it is... what it is not, is a direct and complete replacement for TiVo. Picture quality excepted. Your wife will likely continue to miss her TiVo.

With AnyDvD running in the background, MyHD does a great job of playing DVDs. Latest software also allows DVD menu access via MyHD remote control.
