I need some advice. Would you replace a10 yr old JBL PS120 (12", 100w- 23Hz) with a new NHT SW-10 ( 10", 150W- 31Hz). I am looking for a little tighter sound and for both music and movies. I have NHT SB3 all around and an Onkyo ts 801 receiver.

thanks

Is moving the sub to a different position in the room an option? I moved my NHT SW1 sub from near the corner of the room to the center of the screen = roughly center of the room. Before moving the sub I had plenty of boomy bass, after moving the sub the bass is no longer boomy and is more accurate and tight. It took a little getting used to but now I prefer it over the boominess of a near corner placement. But to answer your question, yes I would think the NHT would produce tighter more accurate bass than your 12" JBL. You might even consider the SW-12.
