i posted once before looking to see what i can do about an old panasonic showstopper with the old software, i'm looking for what i need to do to send it back to panasonic to get the software upgraded. It's a new pvhs2000, but it has the old software and won't connect up to the service.

You don't need to send it back. You can download a hard drive image of the new software and put it on your drive... there should be some threads on this board explaining how to do it, and where to download the image...
If you are saying that this is a newly purchased Showstopper, (provable with a receipt from an authorized retailer) it has a 90 day parts and labor warranty, 12 months labor. You should be able to call Panasonic and get an RMA number to have them upgrade the software to a version that will connect.

I did this last fall, and they offered me the option of pre-shipping me a replacement unit, and all I had to do was to provide a credit card number to cover the original list price ($699, I think) if I didn't ship back the original unit within two weeks of receiving their machine. As a bonus, I received a 40 hour unit on the cross ship, as opposed to the 30 hours of the Showstopper I had purchased.

Best of Luck!
If i open the unit up i void the warranty, the unit is new purchased from and authorized dealer with receipt. someone once posted about a month or two ago on how they sent it back and all the information such as shipping.

Yes, you can contact Panasonic and have Panasonic upgrade the unit. I just bought one a few weeks ago but decided to do the fix myself. Contact Panasonic using the number in the manual or send an email.

Here's a link to the pdf version of the manual:

The Tech Support phone number listed in there is 1-888-843-9788.

That's where I started.
I just picked up an open box PV-HS1000. I called the Panasonic service number and they said I could send in the unit for an update. It seems like there is no longer an option for a cross-ship with an already updated unit. That would have been nice as the open box unit I bought has a few scratches.

Oh well...I may have to open it up and do the update myself. I haven't decided whether or not to keep it or put it on Ebay.
