Not sure if I am reading this correctly, but sounds as if Onkyo as released the 706.

That's the pro version but it does seem promising if someone is waiting on the 706 to be released.
Hmm...it mentions Dynamic EQ, but does not mention Dynamic Volume. I wonder if any of the new Onkyos will have that feature. I guess it could be something that is only on the 806 on up. Or maybe Denon was the only one to get it into their new receivers this year.
This is great news for me as I am waiting for the 706. I almost picked up a 606 a couple weeks ago, but I would really like to have direct IR control which was only available on the 705 and up last year.

If you compare the 705 and the 705 pro the only difference I really saw was the pro is rack mountable. The pictures of the pro don't even have the P as part of the model number on the front plate.

The release mentioned 1080p upconversion. I hope this isn't a typo that hides 1080i. An onkyo with a good faroudja upconversion chip could make any TV look good.
It is up at the Onkyo Pro site. Doesn't say clearly if it upscales to 1080p or not. Did the 705 upscale to 1080i? If so they might have improved it to 1080p uscaling as the 606 was upgraded to 1080i (the 605 only upscaled to 720p). I would expect it at least would scale to 1080i which is good enough for me right now (my Hitachi 57F59 only does 1080i anyway).

Hate to tell ya, but the link you posted is to the TX-SR705P. I don't see anything on the Onkyo Pro website about the TX-SR706P.
Doh, I could have sworn it was the 706. Oops.
I was just about to say...damn, that looks just like the old model! Here's to hoping they change it up a bit.
I'm dying to see the specs/features on this piece. It's either this, an '806 or a TX-SR875 (I really need four HDMI inputs and would like to be able to overlay the GUI onto any signal, up to and including 1080p). I hope the '706 can do 1080p, even if it's with a DCDi chip. If I didn't want Dynamic EQ so badly I'd have already gotten an '875. This is for my secondary HT so I'm not concerned about THX Select2 vs. THX Ultra2.

I guess I might change my mind about the '706 once I see what the '806/'876/'906 bring, so c'mon Onkyo, release the specs already!!
I'd be surprised if its scaler wouldn't be the new HUdson 2 chip, same as in 606: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=1013024
