New Outlaw 990/7125 - Now ?'s

758 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  #crnxr
So I just bought a 990 and 7 channel amp. This is my first setup and could use all the advice possible. It will be used in a great room for HT and stereo with Polk rti 10's and csi5. Couple of questions now . .

1) 990 has a "full digital" and "full analog" mode. But, inputs to 7125 amp are all analog. Does that mean I should keep inputs to the 990 analog also, or can I use a toslink digital audio input to the 990 from my oppo 971?

Any other tips? Thanks in advance.

You can use the digital inputs, it will work just fine. The 990 will convert all signals to analog before the outputs anyway. In fact outside of Meridian, I am not aware of any other processor with digital outputs, and those go direct to their speakers.
I have the very same Outlaw combo and I'm very happy with it.

If the Oppo DVD player plays SACD's, you will need to use both the digital and analog inputs on the 990 processor.

The 990's digital input would be used for DVD's and Stereo CD's...the 5.1 analog inputs for SACD's.
Thank you. Guess I will get an optical cable and be done with it since I don't plan to play SACD.
