Last summer I moved my home theater to the lake house where I currently live and I had a thread here about it. I was frustrated when I didn't get to equipment closet in as scheduled and never really posted a summary or any finalized photos of my home theater. The rest of the place is still being added on too.

I put this page together for another site and thought I would share it here to see if it gave anyone ideas. There are no advertisements on my site. Please just excuse any grammer or spelling errors.

Feel free to visit links in my profile as well and all comments are welcome.

nice site, and good looking build. I would recommend changing your unvisited links to something other than dark blue on a black background though.

Good stuff though!

Looks really good. I like the ceiling, very unique.

I'm surprized you purchased so many cables from Monster though as you've been a part of this forum for many years and could have saved a good chunk of change by going with Monoprice or bluejean (or well nearly anyone really).

HT looks great though I'm sure your enjoying it a lot.

Cheers

Chris..I will change the color for visited links. Calvin, I had to to get things locally whenever possible is why I ended up with the (overpraised) Monster. I even tried nearby hardware and electrical shops but had no luck finding any I liked. Nobody else sold home audio speaker wire. Talk about being lured into a trap. We spent even a month looking for one particular model home theater seating, and the only that would fit, before we actually got any online. I would have gotten bluejean speaker wire. It was to late for the video ones I had those since 2001.

Quick update -

I fixed the link colors and made some important changes to the equipment list that I missed. It's all bi-wiring and the 1750W total for the audio did not include the lobby.

Anyone think the site needs anything else?

Also I wanted to mention since the theater has been completed, every time my folks visit we spend on average 6 hours a weekend watching new release movies in it. I still have not had a guest in my theater, but very soon allot my relatives will visit and some of my folks friends.

Also is there any sound issues with using it?

Thanks in advance.

Thank you

The ceiling tiles are by ceilume. After I did some test I choose the Metro style. These had the best result, and were available in black. they are thin but have acoustico back panels also. The runners I painted myself with krylon paint and they are an interlocking direct mount type system. They are called ceiling link. Problems I encountered were when the corner runners that ran along the walls at the ceiling were vibrating. I decoupled them using leftover black carpet that helped significantly. I don't hear at anymore and I am hitting peak bass levels around 75 DB. Having my sub placed in the center and in the front of the room I believe greatly contributes to the problems I had. Before I had any rattling in the sides of the room, the sconces were shaking, which I fixed, and the doors were moving violently telling me there needed to be some tweaking. I got a better microphone for my automatic setup with the receiver, which is a Radioshack digital SPL meter and after that I had no issues with the LFE. I plan on adding more subs later in the rear of the room. I also plan on having room treatments later as well.

They are pretty easy to install and look great. I would say they are an excellent choice.

I really like the look of the ceiling as well. Oh, and I feel your pain in being able to find HT-related items in Central Missouri. Geographically, we are what I like to refer to as "technology poor". If you can't get it at Best Buy or Circuit City, you're pretty much hosed unless you want to buy it at the couple of "specialty" stores (ie The Entertainer or D&M) and pay an arm-and-a-leg for the stuff.

I'm only a few miles from you SteveMo. I'd love to come by sometime and see your theater and I would extend the invite to you as well if you're ever in JC.

Are you are asking if the tiles can be attached without the runners? If you used just the tiles without the back panels...the runners would attach the same depth as the tiles. I think it would be difficult without the runners. Also this way your not putting holes in 12 dollar tiles. Probobly best to attach them to joist in the ceiling but im sure that as light as they are it could work just directly to drywall.

Thank you nebrunner..I like how it turned out too.. I made up the technique. I used the flaux leather technique that came with the paint company but I modified it so that I had areas of light/dark detail/larger detail..by adding two coats. The crown molding went in as a suggestion from a forum member which I think really made it complete. The floor tiles are the same as our green room but at a slightly different arrangement, but those match pretty well. The candy counter was actually already made. We got that at a garage sale and the owner got it from their father that had it in a lobby also. We just cleaned it up, added another coat of paint, a light, shelves, and some doors to the back. The switch and wiring was already in it. We will eventually get a better pop corn machine.
