I did see this down there this year. The RS-422 part was very impressive. However, I was not impressed by the quality of the encoder. Even at bitrates over 9 mb/s there was quite a bit of artifacting. Not good considering the sources were professionally made DVCPro sources going SDI into the recorder.

The recorder has 32 different levels of bitrates that allow from 1 to 6 hours. It also allows for you to import your own backgrounds for the menus. It has limited authoring capabilites, but the fact that it runs linux and has a VGA port on the back seems like it can be upgraded thru firmware to allow more features. The $4,000 price tag seems too high to warrant the diference from the "consumer" DVD recorders.
