First off sorry if this topic is covered I could not find it when searching. Possibly its over specific. I'm recently the new owener of KEFQ900's and Q600c. I'll be adding in the Q300 or Q100 and the Q800ds in the very near future. I'm looking for a 7.1/7.2 reciever for primairly HT in the sub $1000.00 range. As my wife and I like our music is it possible to simpliy switch a setting on the reciever so that its only running 2.0/2.1 stereo? If been doing a lot of research and I think I would like the receiver to have pre-amp outs to add an amp down the line, if that is recomended. I'd also like the receiver to have at least one HDMI port in the back be MHL compatible. Internet radio would be a plus.

Is there anything on the market that fits my needs? Am I looking to small on my budget?

Oh my sub is a Klipsch 12" syenregy down firing. I'm really happy with it and would prefer not to replace it but will if i cant get it to match with the 7.0 set up I have.

Thanks for your help,

Please let me know if you need more info on my part.

You shouldn't have any problem finding the features you are looking for under $1000. Some may not have pre-outs but most will. Most, if not all, receivers will remember your settings from input to input so you can have radio / cd player play in 2.1 and tv /dvd /bluray play in 7.1. No worries there.

I'm very happy with my marantz 5007 which has all of the features you require. Can be found for Under $850. But, there will be several good receivers in your price range from denon marantz yamaha onkyo etc.

Your sub should be fine. It doesn't really have to be brand matched to your other speakers.

Not quite sure about MHL compatibility though.

Thank you for your quick reply. I guess I'm interested in what speakers need to amp-up if any. Here is a couple of receivers i've been looking at.

on amazon for 799.00

on amazon for 599.00

The Yamahas I'm seeing in the price range are not quite as powerfull with different features.

amazon 799.99

same price on amazon.

I've been staying away form Pioneer in this price range because I've been seeing mixed reviews.

I'm leaning towards the Onkyo 818 for the price and power. Did a quick compareson on crutchfield ( not sure if link will work) but they are pretty even. I dont care about airplay.
