I was just visiting Mercata and did a search on ReplayTV, not ShowStopper, and was treated to find a ReplayTV 3030 on a PowerBuy.

The Current price is $518.

If you add

the $100 Mercata rebate

the $100 NBC rebate

the $100 Loyalty rebate (for those with a unit already)

the %5 ebates rebate

you can get a unit for just over $200.

Someone please double check this for me and make sure I am not dreaming. If I am don't wake me up.

The only fault I find with your logic is the maths, you would be getting over $325 back in rebates bringing the price down to UNDER $200! Thanks for pointing this out, I've never seen Replay brand machines on sale at Mercata before, this is very good news. I have updated my http://www.hifi-remote.com/replaytv/ page to reflect this.

Robman,

You are right. I was taking the ebates 5% off after the 2 $100 rebates from ReplayTV, not before. Thanks, that makes it an even better deal.

Can someone official confirm this? The $100 Mercata rebate is actually just the standard RTV rebate (click the "get rebate details")...

I think the Mercata "Rebate" that's being refered to is the $100 store credit for new customers.

It says the $100 can be used to pay up to 20% of your purchase. Seems like the 3030 is positioned right at that price point.

By following the links on my web site: http://www.hifi-remote.com/replaytv

For those that are new to this discussion, here's how the rebates would break down (if this purchase is for your SECOND Replay brand machine) ...

$518 ==> current Mercata Power Buy price

$100- ==> New customer credit @ Mercata

$100- ==> ReplayTV "NBC" rebate

$100- ==> ReplayTV "Loyalty" rebate

$26- ==> 5% ebates.com rebate

------

$192 ==> Final price (before shipping)

The Loyalty rebate is for people who already own at least one Replay brand machine and are about to buy another Replay brand machine, if you only own a Showstopper you do not qualify for this one.

Does the ebates discount apply before or after the Mercata new customer discount? I'd assume after, given that ca. $400 is the actual amount changing hands here.

toots,

The EBATES rebate will apply to the actual sales price (before rebates) but doesn't include the shipping or tax. It's 5% and EBATES can stall up to 30 days to even admit that you made the sale, and you don't get paid until Feb 15! But, it's only $26 so I won't DIE if I don't get it (though I will complain!)

The reason I asked was that by strict reading of Mercata's site, their $100 isn't so much a rebate as it is a discount, which led me to wonder whether they'd credit ebates with a $400 transaction or $500 transaction.

Still, not a big deal, 'cause that amounts to about $5.

Looking at ebate's web site, I see that if I sign up for their credit card, I get another $30 off my first purchase.

Are we getting carried away yet?

But, to the base topic:

Oh, crap. Looks like I'm going to have to get one. Too bad they're not doing 3060s this week...

It'll be 5% of the final power buy price, ie, the $500 amount.

Does anyone know when do all these rebates expire?

The ebates rebate and the Mercata credit are both "on-going". The expiry date for both the NBC and Loyalty ReplayTV rebates are printed on the rebate forms themselves, so take a look.

Wow, net price is about $183!

What's the best deal for a Tivo + service? I'm not trying to start anything; I actually think Tivo would be better for my mom, but $183 for the whole setup is hard to beat.

From what I know of Tivo, the price for the a lifetime subscription alone is $199, already more than the cost of the whole ReplayTV unit with service.
