New Samsung receiver with unprecedented performance.

"The new S5H1411 boasts a higher reception success rate than other devices in multi-path environments where signal interference is high, such as densely populated urban areas; dynamic environments with serious signal distortion among many moving vehicles; environments with major signal phase errors because of cable retransmission and remote areas where reception is generally poor."

Since this is just a chipset, we'll probably have to wait a while before Samsung (and hopefully someone else) comes out with a STB that uses it. If it can also handle multipath from trees waving in the wind, I'll be happy to buy one!

The tuner in the D* H20-600 receiver is pretty good at ignoring "trees in the wind" interference. But it requires a subscription to D* to use it....

Spamsung?

I predict that the poor quality and low durability of the finished product will also be unprecedented, as we have come to expect from this company.

My Samsung 260F has been fantastic.
au revoir,

I'm sorry you had a bad experience with Samsung.
I've never had airplanes mess up my reception either. And I watch 8VSB stations that are over 70 miles away. The analogs of some of these distant stations are unwatchable snow. 8VSB works.

According to it's "official" thread, there were some people that ordered it after it first came out that had parts loose inside the unit, and it wasn't working. So you ain't just whistlin' Dixie there.

Go to refurbdepot-dot-com and do a search for Samsung....

Pretty good at handling dynamic multipath which is what wind in trees is? Should tell that to the Samsung, LG, R&S and Harris people. Tell them they are wasting their time and all those bits with A-VSB, MPG and whatever ATSC calls its venture.

Tell them that the problem has been solved. Won't be the first time. People have been saying it was solved since 1999. Unequivocally solved! Again.

OK boys lets pony up for another round of STBs. Does this make the 8th or 9th generation?

Listen since 8-VSB is just so wonderful why don't we just cut down all those pesky trees? Next year we will work on those pesky aeroplanes.

You might find some educational articles when you search google with these exact terms:

freeview (wind,tree)
Actually those who think CODFM is so wonderful should be exiled to the UK to watch all the Freeview (widescreen but not HDTV) they want. Of course the typical recommendation there for those with reception problems is to use an appropriate outdoor aerial.

This is good news.

LG claims their new 6th generation tuner chip is the best and Samsung now claims that their new 6th generation HD tuner chip is the best. Does anyone know for sure through testing? The only thing we know for sure is that they are both made in Korea.

I will buy either an LG or a Samsung HD tuner as soon as Circuit City sells them. They cannot get here soon enough! When anyone gets a model number, please post immediately!
