Hmm. Curious spec sheet. No -R/RW support in standalone mode. VR mode only for standalone operation.


Also, the usual press release marketing hype:


"The DVDirect device can burn up to 12 hours of high-quality MPEG-2 video onto compatible double layer DVD+R DL discs"


Yes, MPEG-2 is capable of being high quality, but not when the average bitrate is 1.XX mbps.

Wondering what is the quality of the encoder? It actualy makes sense since a lot of people run Sat or Digital cable boxes.


If it had firewire would be super intersting.

Had one for about two weeks and love it. I use it to backup my Laptop as well as burn some tivo Stuff ( Barney) on to DVD. Very easy to use but lacks DV input.

I just now noticed that... no firewire to connect Camcorder.. how lame
