Hi

I was recently on the Superstar Virgo cruise ship and in there caberet lounge I noticed a Sony projector displaying what looked to be a very nice image.

It was extremely bright (on I would say about a 300 inch screen) and appeared to have very good contrast with a good black level. The colour definition seemed outstanding.

I was wondering if anyone has seen one of these in action and what they thought of it.

I own a 3 gun BG808 and have never previously been so impressed by an LCD or DLP image.

The model to the best of my knowledge was a VPL-FX200U although I did get this from the Sony site.

I got up on the stage to look and the best I could read was the VPL-FX?00u but the unit looks the same so I assume this is it.

Anyone seen one?

The VPLFX200U is a roughly $14,000 installation projector, using relatively large 1.8" LCD panels, with 3100 lumens (rated). Like the 10HT and 11HT, it uses Sony's 3D gamma correction technology to optimize white field uniformity throughout the whole gray scale.

Interestingly, it uses four lamps for redundancy and extra brightness.

Haven't seen one at the local Sony Pro dealer, VMI, though.

Regards,

Jon
