I'm finishing my basemen for an entertainment center.

I will get a projector, 1080p

I want to build a screen on one wall.

Size of the wall is 92" high and 98" wide, theoretical diagonal ~ 130" (if I use max).

1) What's a reasonable product to make the screen (Paint ? etc)

2) what's a good projector, ceiling mounted, for about 1000 to 1500?

For a 16x9 screen if the width is 98" the height would be 98 x 9 / 16 = 55 1/8"

A screen of that size is 112" diagonal.

You can make an excellent screen by painting the wall if it is smooth and flat.

The only inexpensive 1080p projector I know of is the Optoma HD20. There are some excellent 720p projectors to be had such as the Epson Home Cinema 720, Panasonic PT-AX200U, or the Sanyo PLV-Z60.

Is the room wider than 98"? The Infocus X10 is being closed out at TD. You may be limited to about 106" due to ceiling height though, unless you tilt the screen a little. The X10 owners thread has lots of information.

If you're determined to go much bigger than 106", the X10 might not be the ideal choice. If the throw distance is long enough, and if you can tilt the screen a little, it might be a good projector for you, and possibly go over 110". They are being discontinued, so you would need to purchase soon.

I picked up my highly rated Epson 6100 Home Cinema 1080p pj less than a month ago for $1500 plus tax (after $100 rebate) plus am supposed to also get a free bulb from Epson ($250 - $300 value). Which brings the pj only price to about $1350 including tax, but you have to get the spare bulb, so out of pocket I paid under $1600 and get free bulb.
