I'm new to HTPC and did test something. I tried dscaler and zp+sonic+ffdshow.
I'm using a Sony G400 19" Monitor, Flyvideo2000, GeForce256 DDR, AMD 1800+, 512M RAM
1. Why the display from computer monitor is less brightness, colorful than a conventional TV? (I set the color temperature on computer monitor to 9300, it just improve a little bit). Is the display quality of LCD monitor/ LCD project the same as or even worse than computer montior?
2. For setting on the display refresh rate, should I choose 60Hz or 72Hz for NTSC playback?
3. Does the color depth setting on the display manager affect the overlay?
4. If I change the display card to ATI9600Pro, will the image be improved due to difference in overlay quality or the present of VMR9? If it is improved, on which area?
5. If I change the monitor to Philips 17WP, which is a DVI, 1280x768 LCD panal, I guess the image clarity will better, but would it become even less brighter and less colorful?
6. For LCD Monitor/Project, I understand the function of scaler is to maximize the usage of the supported pixels. However, back to CRT, is it just a waste the scale the image to higher resolution?
7. I feel AMD 1800+ is not enough, normally what CPU you guys is using?
Sorry, so many question, thanks in advance!
