I ordered a Hitachi 5500, a 120" 4:3 screen, ... I need to get a mid tier DVD Player. I was looking at the Kenwood 5700 based on the rave reviews on this site. I also looked at the 962, teh Toshiba SD5700 and 9200...and the Denons. It looks like the 5700 is the best for my needs:

The question, will I have an problems with the 5700 in this setup... given 4:3? Any other problems that I might encounter...I saw something about a switch on the back that you have to interact with...

Confused? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Moving along slowly...

gmiles,

The hard-to-reach switch on the back of the 5700 is to switch the player between the progressive and interlaced mode when you want to stay with component output when in interlaced mode.

If your needs don't require the above, then use of the switch may for you be so seldom as to be no issue to you.

(I'm guessing that Kenwood may have designed it this way to save money through not implementing a remotely controlled component progressive-frequency video switch.)
