Hi,

As a newbie, I am very excited about concept of HTPC. At the same time I have tons of questions:

If the DVD signal is recorded for 480p quality, what is the point to scale it to 540p with HTPC and special software? What do the extra 60 lines buy us if the source is 480p?

If my projector accepts 1080i signal, does it mean that my HTPC should use resolution like 1920 x 1080 ? or 960 x 540?

what if my projector targets 720p at first?

The TV signals are not 16:9 and refresh in a much lower rate. What HTPC can do to improve the situation? Does HTPC stretch it to 16:9?

Also, how much does those softwares cost? DVD player, powerstrip, scaler...

Thanks.
