Ok I just got a 1271 and I'm having trouble setting this thing up. When I'm in the test mode and look at the cross-hairs, I can't get it to look right. How many ticks/marks should be there in the cross-hairs? Mine has only 3 ticks on the bottom side and there are 4 ticks on the top side. I tried verical LIN adjustment but that doesn't help. No matter which adjustments I make, I can't make the cross-hairs look right!! And in the other test screens, it looks like the top of the screen is getting cut off. I know it's not the blanking because it's set at max on each side.

Well I peer into the CRT and notice that the test image is sitting right at the top edge of the raster. I also notice the at the very top line of the raster, there's some flickering going on. So I think I need to center the test image on the raster, so how do I do this??

Hey,

If the blanking is set to max on all sides then you have found at least one problem.

Is should be set to max on two sides and min on the other two. I think it should be min and the left and the bottom but I'm not near mine to verify right now.

Good Luck,

Brian

Do you have the installation manual?

If not try downloading it at the following address:

It's best to start off the calibration with the factory default settings.

Page 95 gives the procedure to reset the registration standard data.

From your description, you probably need to RGB Shift and RGB Size to center the grid.

Good Luck!

You probably need to take off all of the blankets that have been placed across the image.

Also, there is a possibility that the raster image isn't centered. There is a crt shfit or move button on the top of the remote somewhere that will move the raster around on the tube.

strat_53711: I already have the manual, it's been a lot of help! And I've already reset everything to factory settings. Now as far as RBG shift/sizing goes, don't I have to hook up a input? I thought you're supposed to go into test mode with no inputs? Are you telling me there's no way to center the test patterns on the raster without hooking up a input?

Rohan: What I meant by blanking is at max was that it was not covering anything at all. So by moving the raster around, does that not shift the image around or does the image stay stationary relative to the CRT?

Man, I think I'm more confused now...

obbears,

I am new at this as well and can share something intresting, I have working my way through the swamp of set up for the last two week. I have watched a couple of movies on my 1270 and have tried a few different set ups. Last night I made the decission to go at from the very beggining. I made sure my physical instal was 100% and then did the sw1 reset. I then followed Guy's focus thread and went to convergence. I was blown away, the projector converged it's self. It was amaziing a little size and I was 95%obbears,

It was amazing a little size and I was 95% there, this was not the case before the sw1 reset. I had done the remote resets before but this was a huge step forward. If you haven't done this I would say do it before you waste a lot of time trying to work around bad saved set ups. I will warn you It did wipe out my bias and gain ,but the trade off was well worth it.
