HELP..I JUST GOT THIS 1272 IN SUPER CLEAN CONDITION . PROBLEM IS I

CAN NOT LINE UP THE BLUE LINE IN THE CENTER R ADJUSTMENT MODE.

IN THE 20 MINUTE WARM-UP THE PROJECTION IS CLOSE TO SQUARE BUT IT HAS A ROUNDED EDGE LOWER RIGHT AND A 10% GROWTH "TUMOR" IN THE UPPER LEFT ALSO NOT SQUARED OFF. I PICKED UP THE MACHINE MYSELF FOR CHEAP FROM A REPUTABLE VIDEO DEALER EVERY THING ELSE IS SUPER CLEAN

DO I HAVE RESET EVERYTHING STEP BY STEP TO FACTORY DEFAULTS?

I DO NOT HAVE THE WIRELESS REMOTE COMMANDER .HOWEVER ALL CONTROLS RESPOND EVEN SET IN SERVICE MODE. I HOPE I AM NOT SCREWING THIS UP FURTHER..A NEWBIE, LIKE MYSELF AND A DEALER MANUAL CAN BE DANGEROUS. I NEVER HAD THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE

1020 AND 1031Q MODELS

P.S. THERE IS NO PAGE 5 ON THIS MACHINE SO I CANT CHECK OUT CRT TIME. I THOUGHT THE 1272Q MANUFACTURED JULY 1995 WOULD HAVE THAT.

P.S. THERE IS THE OPTIONAL DUPLICATE SET OF 5BNC INPUTS IF THAT MEANS ANY THING

1272 has a page five, hold the test button down for about 5 seconds or so and it iwill ask you if you want to go into service mode , hit the button for yes and then go back into test and away you go , you only get the page if you are into the service menu, as for your other convergence issues post a pic to properly illustrate your probem ...............

problem sounds like you are just using the "minor adjustments" in USER mode, You have to enter the service mode like pentiction102 mentioned in order to properly set up the projector. Make sure you are using the Installation manual for dealers as a reference: http://www.c r t c i n e m a.com/man...272Install.zip (remove spaces)

 THANKS EVERYONE. I WENT OVER THE INSTALLATION MANUAL PAGES 94-97 AND SET EVERY THING BACK TO FACTORY DEFAULT WITH SOME BUT NOT PERFECT SUCCESS. AFTER I WAS FINISHED I THINK I WENT TO RGB SIZE OR AND CENTER R AND SET THAT AGAIN TO FACTORY DEFAULT AND OF COURSE PLACING IT INTO MEMORY AND WALL LAH BADDA BING BANG BOOM= 99%

PERFECTION ON EVERYTHING AS FAR AS THE R+G+B GETTING TOGETHER AND THE CROSS HAIRS LINING UP. THE "TUMOR AND ROUND EDGED SUDDENLY WENT AWAY AND BECAME SQUARE..A BEAUTIFUL THING.


REMAINING QUESTIONS

PAGE 5 HOWEVER STILL DOES NOT APPEAR ??

THE SHARPNESS LEVEL IS STILL NOT AS CRISP AS I WOULD LIKE IT???

WOULD A LINE DOUBLER HELP AS FAR AS SHARPNESS.. I HAVE A INLINE

MODEL IN1240 LITTLE DOUBLER THAT POWERS OK WHEN I OUTPUT TO

5 BNC CONNECTIONS THE SONY DOES NOT PICK UP ANY INPUT SIGNAL

I HAVE 2 OF THESE 5 BNC BOARDS INSTALLED ON THE SONY I CANT SEEM TO GET IT TO WORK ?. I HAVE NEVER VERIFIED THE DOUBLER AS WORKING . US THERE ANYTHING I AM DOING WRONG OR IS IT BUSTED??

ANY SHARPNESS SUGGESTION'S. I AM DOING 16X9 FORMAT AT MAX FACTORY DEFAULTS 120 INCHES I BELIEVE . BRIGHTNESS AND COLOR ARE FINE SET AT 55/ 55

With the projector on, hold down "test" for around 5-8 seconds. You will get a message asking you if you wish to enter the service control mode. Push yes, up arrow, and the message will go away. Next press the "page" button until you get to screen/menu 5. Highlight "CRT Timers" and you will get three timers, one for each CRT in hours.


You can use the doubler, connect it to one of the RGBHV input cards on the back and press input A to select the left card and input B to select the right card. For sharpness, be sure you have focused all three lens assemblies. You may need to do a electrical focus using the pots on the top of the projector. Turn down the contrast and look at a test pattern right through the front of the lens. If it looks off, you either have tube fucus (probably not likely), dirty CRT faces, or the electrical focus needs to be done.


Electrical focus can be done with the three black pots at the top of the projector. There SHOULD be a sticker from Sony covering the G2 pots, which should not be touched.


You can probably find a tutorial or FAQ on here by doing a search for 1272Q Sony install/electrical focus/setup etc... you basically want to turn the pots so the test pattern on the tube face is as sharp as possible.

 WOW I KNEW I HAD A CLEAN PROJECTOR PRACTICALLY STOLEN FROM A RENTAL AGENCY NEAR MY HOUSE. I WILL LEAVE OUT THE PRICE NOT TO EMBARRASS THEM .BUT 0506 HOURS ON ALL 3 TUBES AND THEY SURE LOOK LIKE THAT. I REALLY DOUBT THAT THEY WERE RESET= A HAPPY

VIDEO CAMPER WHO HAS FOUND HIS PROJECTOR+ I BOUGHT 2 LINE DOUBLERS FOR CHEAP (THEY WERE BOTH PUT UNDER WRONG CATEGORIES ON EBAY THEY ARE YEM/Vidikron EDEC-2000 or Extron Lancia xi??

I HAVE HAD A EXRON LANCIA BEFORE BUT KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THE

YEM/Vidikron EDEC-2000 ANYONE HAVE A OPINION ON WHICH TO USE?

Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but can you find your caps lock key, please, and press it until the little green caps lock light goes out?

Vidikron doesn't usually make junk. That doubler should be pretty good.
