To be completely honest, I have only really started to look into setting up a nice listening system. I have had "decent" systems in the past; Pioneer and Onkyo receivers.

I'm now looking for a significant upgrade. All new. Nothing I have now is worth using in the new system.

I would like to spend $800-1500. I would prefer to have a 5-7 channel system, but the main use is for music. I'm willing to expand the budget slightly, for a significant increase in performance.

Aesthetics aren't that important, but I don't have that much room. More importantly, I'm not setting this up for a dedicated room (we might move soon). I hope that's at least enough info to get some tips and links to some high quality parts. I realize that this may be vague. Perhaps a few pointers, or comments on systems in the same price range.

TIA

This would be a good choice http://www.**********/products_catego...akers&brand=55

I know you said that you do not have much room, that may be the only issue with these speakers, they are on the big side.

I have X-LS R/L and X-CS for the center, they sound great with music and movies. I do not have the X-Sub but have heard great things about it, especially for music.

By the way, you can go to AV123's forum and see if there is any one in your area with these speakers, they may let you demo them.

I would rather be cramped for the short term, than have another set of mediocre speakers. I've never been convinced that smaller speakers perform as well (I may be wrong).

Those do look quite nice. I was also looking at the Intimus 532 LR speakers. The Intimus are a little more expensive. Any opinions on which are better?

I read a review from home theater mag about the following setup that was pretty convincing:

(Outlaw Audio Model 1070 A/V Receiver and Aperion Audio Intimus 532-LR Speaker System)

It would seem that this is a very nice setup for the price ~$2000. I could piece a 2.1 system (or even 5.1) and add to it later. I would be willing to start with fewer speakers and add more later to get a very nice system that I will be happy with for years to come.

Thanks for you input.

I have never heard any of the Aperion line of speakers. I have heard them mentioned on this board, do a shearch for them you may find some more info.

If you are looking for more then what the X series is you could also look into the other AV123 products. Not trying to push you towards there products, just a company that I am familiar with.

Maybe some one else will chime in with more info on the Aperion speakers.
