In looking for a quiet power supply, I came across the Nexus which is said to be the most piet powersupply available, I just have 2 questions about it.

Will it work with this case? http://www.directron.com/atc620.html

Is 300W enough power, to power everything ok?

Thanks

Hi plissken99,

I'm considering the same PS and I think 300w will do with the setup I'm putting together.

Asus P4PE

P2.53

120g HD

Plexcombo

AP24/96

Crucial 9700 pro

What setup do you have?. From what I've learned so far, if you run only one HD a 300-350ps should be enough.

Set up as follows:

Asus P4SE

P1.8

40GB HD

DVD/CDRW combo

Radeon 9000

Capture card(undecided)

Nothing special, just for DVD playback, MP3 music, watching TV and playing games from an S-vid or component source and occasionally capturing something off TIVO to put on VCD.

I'm using the Nexus 3000 and can confirm it is very, very quiet. It's running an Asus P4PE, Radeon AIW 9700, 185GB HD, DVD, capture card. No problems so far (it's been running 24x7 for the past 4 months now).

Plisken99, this power supply will not fit in the case you mention. The case is microATX, the Nexus is full size ATX. Those use different size power supplies.

... Well that is the perfect case, can someone recommend a quiet powersupply to fit Micro ATX cases?

Even though the case only takes micro-atx motherboards, I believe it uses a standard atx power supply. If you check around at other vendors, you'll see they offer the case with standard power supplies (ie. enermax, fortron...)

Still can't find out if ithe Nexus will fit in the Cooler Master case. It's a pretty common case, has no one tried to team them up?

Ah, finally some confirmation! Thank you very much.

Question, what is the big advantage to an all aluminum case(besides the strenght)?

My understanding is that heat dissipation is the main advantage of aluminum cases. I would have gone with steel if I could have found one at the time. They are much less expensive.
