Can I ask what channels these are on DirecTV? The channel guide shows the Panthers/Eagles game on channel 91. But does not list it as HD like the Jets/SF game on 94. Is it just a guide issue?

See the NFL ST topic.
All 1pm games are up in HD & DD 5.1.
NE vs. Seattle via OTA in Miami. Game looks amazing. You can see each individual blade of grass on the field.

I don't know, here in Seattle (KCPQ, received over Comcast cable), the image looks compressed pretty heavily. Anyone else experiencing "poor" image quality?
Clarification re: image quality:

compression is only visible on the Skycam and on the main sideline camera that covers each play. Other cameras seem to be fine... ?
OTA Los Angeles, started off with the Jets game but correctly changed to the Pats game 5 mins. later.

Fairly good PQ, been spoiled by the MLB coverage. Don't care too much for the look of most the HD cameras set at a higher shutter speed rate, giving the images a bit of a choppy look.
So, can anyone explain why D* can't carry the local FOX-HD NFL game on channel 88/89?
up in Boston, WFXT undefeated Defending World Champion Patriots vs the Seattle Seahawks.

I figured out my chief complaint with fox.........its the grass.........the grass field in foxboro looks like a sea of shimmering pixels.........other than that it looks really good. the players look good....if they can just cut the pixels to a minimum on the grass a la ABC MNF and ESPN SNF we would be all set.

Because they don't carry FOX HD.

NFL ST is a subscription only package, and the MLB Playoffs are a special event.

Expect to see full time FOX HD E & W in the very near future.
SeaSquawk game not in HD here in Portland OR.

Splicer was working OK yesterday.
Jets/49ers on Cablevision. The screen is doing that jumpy thing that it was doing during the baseball game every few minutes. Quite annoying. When is FOX going to fix this?
Seahawks/Pats looks superb OTA in Tampa; good 5.1 audio as well.

I have had the same thing on all FOX broadcasts. The field always has digital compression artifacts on it.

The main camrea shot looks soft today not as sharp as the other cameras.

Update: Seattle game went HD in Portland OR at about the 1 hour mark.

Icemannyr: How are you able to get frame captures on Cablevision?
Using FusionHDTV3 Gold HDTV PC Tuner card.
For the last several weeks I have had the "dancing" grass (or turf) effect on all Fox sports broadcasts (including baseball) - just alot of artifacts. I receive Fox through Cox cable in LV but I am sure this is not a cable issue as my signal levels are fine.

I do not this when the Fox HD games are replayed on NFL Primetime on ESPN. Also, I do not see this on the ESPN, ABC or CBS games.

What is funny is I don't remember seeing this the first couple of weeks Fox went to HD. Something seems to have changed here, for the worse.

keith, i have seen it since week 1 with fox........although there was one week (week 3 maybe??) where they had 1 less game or something and did some tweaking and it was much better........

one thing that does keep me hopeful is that the replays like you mentioned are pristine...so its something in their delivery........all i know is if they want to be the "standard" for hdtv they need to clean up the pixellating.
Strange. I'm watching on Cablevision and the PQ looks a LOT better to me than that capture. Looks on par with ESPN and ABC to me (compression aside).
