Nice bookshelf or wall mounts ~$2000

I am looking for some nicer wall mounts or bookshelf speakers for my home theater. I will be mainly using them for HT, but will also play music through them. The budget is somewhat flexible, but I would like to spend about $3000 on a full 5.1 HT system. I would appreciate your suggestions as to a starting point.

thanks.

there are a lot of options in that price range. The best thing you can do is go out to your speacialized audio dealers and listen to what there is. Check out Paradigm, PSB, B&W, Monitor Audio, JM-Lab etc. Good luck & Enjoy!!
I was in your spot and went with the Revel M20s. You can find them used for a reasonable price. I am very happy with these for 2 channel/2.1 channel music and 5.1 for movies. A quality sub is also an important part. Take your time and build a system you will be happy with (sound quality wise) for years. Good luck.
I appreciate knowing that others have been in my same spot. I appreciate the advice. I'll definitely check out some of the finer audio stores. I have listened to many of the offerings at BB and have been pretty unimpressed. I get the feeling that the guys that set those up really don't know what they're doing. However, there is a high end HT store in the area that I'll have to check out.

Orb Audio.
I've decided on paradigms. Studio 40s for front, CC-470 center, and SA-30 in walls for the rear. Paired with a Seismic 12 sub, it should produce some great sound. Anyone have a similar setup they can comment on?

Paradigm has some nice stuff. But, I would suggest that you spend some more time auditioning different brands. Go listen to four or five other brands then go back and see if the Digms still sound as good to you. If they don't.... you will most likely have "tired" of them over a short time and started down the constant up-grade path that so many get caught up in.

Everyone seems to be in such a hurry.... When the bulb goes on that a HT is in the future.... it seems like most people want it YESTERDAY. Geesh.... do yourself a favor and listen, listen and listen some more to all kinds of different brands. Both above AND below your budget. You will start to become comfortable with what kind of sound YOU prefer. Then go back and revisit some of the early front runners. I'll bet a lot of them won't float your boat as much, the second or third time around.

I auditioned speakers for almost a YEAR and listened to well over thirty (or more) different set ups. Many, more than twice. The speakers I fell in love with and bought.... still bring smiles to my face THREE years later. Whether it's watching Saving Private Ryan or listening to a Mozart Piano Concerto.

Take your time.....
