New TV/PS3 (Metal Gear Solid Edition)


I'm not getting video or sound through HDMI connection. Used the same HDMI cable with Xbox 360 and it works fine.


Tried the unplugging procedure that Sony suggests and no dice. Talked to one of Sony's Customer Service Reps. No dice. Held the start button down for 5 secs and waited for the 2 beeps and no dice.


Exchanged the PS3 for another one. Same problem.


Works with composite cables.


I want HDMI.


This sucks.


Any suggestions?

don't you have to active the hdmi output on the PS3? Sounds like you need to check your settings or read the manual. it's NOT the TV...

I dont think it needs to be activated. All I've ever used is HDMI on mine. YOu just need to set the resolution.


I have the 58PZ75U and the PS3 works fine. Try another HDMI port.

If you can see it on composite. Plug the HDMI from the PS3 to display. Go in the settings and set to HDMI.

I fixed the problem. Apparently, it was a faulty HDMI cable. I went out and purchased a new cable, hooked it up and it worked.


Mind you, this cable still works with my Xbox 360 and the att uverse box.

What grade of cable was it? The 360 doesn't require a super high-end cable while the PS3 is rather finicky about it.
