Anyone having no audio through HDMI from computers?

Audio is going from PC (mac and PC both don't work)  HDMI -> pioneer VSX-1123 -> speakers

I get sound from internal speakers not through HDMI.

When I go to sound output option on my mac, I don't see HDMI output for audio like I usually do when I try to connect the mac to my TV directly.

I know it's not a) computer because multiple computers have same problem and they can output directly to TVs and b) not cable because it works fine with other non-PC devices and c) not receiver because it outputs sound from HDMIT sound input fine from other devices.

So what gives?

Can't help on the Mac side but for the PC you have to have drivers installed for HDMI audio. Either video and or audio drivers and of course it needs to be set as the default. Assuming Windows check under Hardware and Sound - Sound... see if HDMI is listed and what formats are supported. If not, go hunting for your hardware's appropriate drivers.

Driver is not the issue because I can get the sound and video out through HDMI just fine when I connect it to various TVs.

The same cable also works for audio/video output to the same receiver from another non-computer device.

I tested both MacBook Pro (OSX) and a Sony Vaio (windows) and they have the same problem.

Well if the PC works (via HDMI audio) to the TV it would appear to be down to two issues... either the wrong input is selected on the receiver or the input is not working. Try swapping inputs and viewing what signal is being received (via the receiver's menu - supported audio I presume). Is the image displaying.. passing through the receiver to the TV? In the past I have seen where some receivers required the output port to be active to output audio.
