Hi, all,
I recently bought a Panasonic HS-1000 and had problems with not connecting. I skimmed some of the posts here and had some success with forcing a connection while putting another phone on mute. I'd replaced the telephone cable that came in the box (~25') with a shorter 6' one, so I replaced that one back to the longer cable and had no problems connecting ever since. It wasn't a faulty cable -- I'd tried about 4 shorter cables but still had the connection problem.
The phone cable is next to a bunch of power cables and audio/video cables. I also looped the excess cable several times into a coil, which would induce more noise into the connection. Who knows, but it worked for me.
