Have there been no news on the Philips CPL bulbs?


Isn´t it likely that they´ll be the next big thing in projectors, smaller and way brigther than UHP, escpellially since LED´s seem to be getting brigther at a very slow pace.


How does the light spectrum and heat compare on CPL to UHP?

Someone wrote that the spectrum is something in the direction of xenon from normal UHP.

CPL should if they work allow for the brighter projectors many want without resorting to expensive and heat generating xenon solutions.

Better light spectrum than UHP, which probably means brigther for projectors per watt(becaue of less need of filtering), and can go MUCH brighter. How´s the life and price of them, and are there any news or indications that they are likely in the near future of projectors?

AFAIK, the only lamp announced was 420 W, which is a lot of heat to dissipate and a different class than most consumer pj's.


A 200 W version would get a lot of traction.

I thought Philips was going to start witrh 450w, and then later 750W and 900w.


If Xenon is larger and runs hotter than CPL, why can´t a 450w CPL be used when the Sony Qualia used a 700w Xenon. Was the cooling system in the Qualia any more complex and expensive than in the Ruby or HD-1?


Can´t the bulbs also be run at lower power?
