Inspired by the Lite-on thread....

I'm not able to check the digital play box in the multimedia section

of the control panel of W98SE.

My DVD-ROM is a Panasonic 106s and my MoBo is an ECS K7S5.

(I couldn't check it on the old MoBo either... although I don't remember the make, the chipset was not from SiS).

Any clues?

Hi Iago:

___If you have a K7S5A, your chipset is from SiS and in fact is the SiS735. Win98 had no clue such an animal existed when it was coded so download a MB driver from either SiS or ECS and install it. Afterwards, you should have the DMA settings made available to you.

Hi Wayne

I do believe I have the latest driver from ECS... (bummer)... and the DMA did not work with my last setup either (which was not built on an SiS chipset).
