I bought one of these systems from Best Buy and I can't get it to play DTS. DD 5.1 works just fine. I have the HTB-505 (actually the receiver model is VR-606) hooked up to my panasonic RP62 via the digital optical connection. When I switch the RP62 to output a DTS signal, the Kenwood doesn't detect it at all and I get no sound. I tried the films Gladiator and Reign of Fire so far and both of them work just fine with DD5.1.

Are you sure you have the receiver set properly to accept the DTS signal?

Pretty sure... I mean, I'll go over it again but it's pretty straight forward and it's supposed to automatically detect the signal type.

Let's review...

Panasonic DVDp requires in the set-up menu to select "Dts--Bitstream."

Then on the actual DVD movie disk, the Audio/Language Set-up requires selecting Dts using the remote button(s)

I imagine the Kenwood AUTO Detect feature is automatic, as you say.
