No DTS output from VOB files in ZP....

Hi,

I have ripped some of my movies (and movie clips) as VOB files on my Hard disk, using the IFO mode of DVD-Decrypter. Some of these movies & clips have only DTS track and others have both DD and a DTS track. I can play a DTS track fine using Windvd 6 through spdif.

Now trouble starts when I try to run same movies or clips in Zoom Player 4.03. I cannot get a DTS out through spdif using ZP. I can pass through DD 5.1 just fine but it seems that Zoom Player cannot see a DTS track in that VOB file. Also while playing a DTS only VOB clip I cannot get any sound and 'MPEG splitter' filter is grayed out in ZP filter properties. I have used Dscaler audio filter, Nvidia audio decoder, Windvd 6 audio decoder and AC3Filter with and without reclock but I do not get any DTS output regardless of which decoder I use. But I can get the DD 5.1 in all decoders.

Do you guys think this problem can be fixed? If someone can get the DTS out from ripped movies in ZoomPlayer, can you please share your settings and ripping methods?

Thanks.

Rhoniel

Edit: I can get a DTS out in a commercial DVD when played back in Zoom Player, but cannot get DTS output from a VOB rip of same DVD.

I have the same problem.

I know that doesnt help, but at least I know its just not me!
Alright then let me rephrase my question:

Has anyone got the DTS output from ripped VOB files through Zoom Player, using any audio decoder?

If yes then please share your settings.

Thanks.

Just curious, but can you get DTS out of Zoom Player, when using a store bought dvd?
I'm not familiar with zoomplayer, but in WMP and Meedio I needed to load up the universal open source mpeg2 splitter since the Microsoft mpeg2 splitter doesn't like DTS.

Yes, I can get a DTS out in a commercial DVD when played back in Zoom Player, but cannot get DTS output from a VOB rip of same DVD. I have edited my first post on this thread to reflect this additional info.

Hi smf007:

It seems that 'universal open source mpeg2 splitter' that you have mentioned can fix my problem since it seems that zoom player cannot see a DTS stream present in the VOB files. So using a different audio decoder won't help playing a DTS track in this case.

So from where can I get this 'universal open source mpeg2 splitter' ?

Thanks.

Edit: OK I think you are referring to Gabest Universal MPEG Splitter. I'll give it a try and post my results.

Yes, it would have been Gabest Universal MPEG Splitter that I was trying to remember. Basically you can change the filter priority. In Meedio you can just specify the filter graph (flowchart of filters/video data). I have all .VOB files using the Universal MPEG splitter with DScaler5 for video and ffdshow for audio.
Alright I couldn't have the Zoom Player 4.03 to work with Gabest MPEG2 splitter. I tried to make a manual graph but couldn't make a working graph.

Then I tried to set very low merit for Microsoft MPEG2 splitter & for MPEG2-Demultiplexer and high merit for Gabest MPEG2 splitter but still ZP didn't use this splitter.

Then I thought of using WinDVD DVD navigator, it didn't help. I also tried to make a graph with Nvidia DVD navigator in a hope that it will give me a DTS out but it didn't work either.

Can someone please tell me how can I have a Gabest MPEG2 splitter to work with Zoom Player?

I couldn't get much info on avsforum and inmatrix forums about the issue of DTS out from VOB files in Zoom Player. Does this mean that I am the only one who cannot have a DTS out from VOB files?

Thanks.

Ok, so now I have got the 'Gabest Universal MPEG Splitter' to work with Zoom Player and I can get DTS output from VOB files as well. I had to turn on the option to use 'Customized Media playback' in 'Filter Control' menu and configure the ZP to use Universal MPEG Splitter as MPEG2 splitter. Now I am using AC3 audio filter as audio decoder.

Now I have one more quesion:

1) I have a VOB file with both DD 5.1 and DTS audio streams. How can I select which audiostream to be played back in ZP? When I selected audio stream from 'Stream Selection' option while VOB file is being played back and I can see two audio tracks listed but I cannot select the audio track of my choice and ZP always seems to play the first track in the list.

I know that there is an option to select 'Preferred DVD Audio Language and DVD --> DVD Values menu but it doesn't seem to take affect while using 'Customized Media playback option. Any help will be appreciated.

EDIT:

Now I have figured out how to switch audio streams while using Gabest Universal MPEG Splitter. After changing the audio stream in 'Stream Selection' option I pause and then resume the video again. After about 2 seconds my receiver's screen reflects the change in audio stream.

Video playback with Gabest Splitter has stutters even though my cpu usage is around 27% only. I'll try to look into it and see if it can be fixed with reclock. But now I started getting a feeling that may be HTPC is overhyped for its DVD playback capabilities.
