Anybody know what's up with the lack of DTS-HD or Dolby HD movies in the U.S? I've been looking at multiple Blu-ray movies and not many of them feature any of the new audio formats, mainly Dolby Surround instead of Dolby HD. On the other hand, I've looked at the same movies in europe and most of them contain all those formats including DTS-HD! Anybody know what's up with that or where I can purchase blu-ray films for region 1 with the new audio formats?


For example, I saw the movie "Saw" and it features only Dolby Surround 5.1 in the U.S. or region 1 whereas in Europe the same Blu-Ray disk features that format along with DTS HD

There are plenty of newer audio tracks. DTS-HD-MA and TrueHD (dolby) are on the majority of newer BDs. Even before these became evident, many of the early BDs had LPCM (uncompressed lossless) tracks.

I am checking on Amazon now for some blu-ray disks and it seems that neither one of them have any of the high definition audio formats. Or could that just be mislabeling on the website?

Have you been to an actual store yet? or checked rear covers? And Amazon only lists the legacy audio. Check this thread for all the info you need.

BTW - Most Warner discs, even the new ones, don't have lossless audio. They might not be entirely correct, but spread the word anyway.

Yeah, Warner is pretty pathetic when it comes to providing lossless audio tracks on their BDs. I waited ages for The Prestige to get an australia release (it was released by Disney in the US and had a PCM track). We finally got it recently and it was a Warner disc with only Dolby Digital

I almost said "f*** you Warner" out loud in public after looking at the back of the case.
