Seems that the need for high excursion drivers isn't really needed for the horn loaded subwoofer guys.

This may open up the market to new driver manufactures to produce a driver specific to horn loading. You know we aren't going to just let the pro market hand us a driver with out us puting our seal of approval on it

..... or pro drivers are fine ?

If someone wants to claim "horn loaded subwoofer" then I would expect

acoustical gain at subwoofer frequencies

Unless you have some crazy real estate to accomplish this, it would be ok

just to call it a horn loaded woofer system and get your gain at certain frequencies and others not.

It's like a racing camshaft... you buy a grind to what you need... right now the THT is the grind to have.

Last I heard, he gave away the plans for free.

Hell yeah! Wayne's 12pi hornsub is the ****! Ultra loud and those cooling plugs are pretty neat too. If I had the space in my HT room I'd build two to four of these monsters. They're just as big as my twins!

Long time no see, Thy. Welcome back.

Especially with a horn, I would say.

Hey I guess your right, we're really ducking the winter this year huh ?

It's nice to see the constant drive towards different designs, even if horn loads have been around a while.

Just put 100 woofers in the home and don't worry about all the different designs, let the mutual coupling amaze the natives.

When Rockford Fosgate showed off the new 15kw car amplifier using

Ultracapacitors, people were in awe at how it delivered this uber power

with one car battery on a trickle charger.

Quote:
The amplifier IS running all (60) 12" subwoofers in the demo room with channels 3&4 bridged at 1-Ohm! Channels 1&2 run all (16) 6x9" for high end.

The amplifier is a FULL-RANGE amplifier a Class A/B circuit design with new Hybrid Technology and 140 Volts of storage. To produce this much power utilizing traditional Class A/B technology would require 2,000 Amps of current whereas the Power T15kw utilizes 500% less current to produce the same amount of output power.

You'll hurt yourself trying to figure it out ... This WILL change the way mobile audio amplifiers are designed. Several competitors have been in the Rockford Fosgate booth (I can't name them but the one sounds like STICKER and have been here 4 times scoping out the technology - and another has two initials in their AUDIO title) congratulating Tony D. the engineer that someone "finally" provided a new circuit solution for the car audio industry.

Could it be that 60 woofers in a room by itself is impressive
There is low frequency coupling from the drivers themselves to boost

SPL. This trick was used to make their amplifier look better than it is.

They didn't use sonosubs, no IB subs, no horn subs, etc., just a bunch of woofers in a box

"No more need for high excursion drivers"

they will always have their place in a variety of applications. sealed running a linkwitz transform is one of them.

"Wayne's 12pi hornsub is the ****!"

wayne is awesome, but the 12pi was based on the danley lab horn (which was a gift to the diy community). wayne made valuable mods. i'm just talking about the core design.

If you are equipping a club, look at the 12pi....for sure...30Hz capability with great FR down to ~30Hz when stacked, and the heat sinks allow it to pound club-goers into traction for hours on end...

They're big, but for an install, no-brainer...

Good to know I don't have to throw out my sealed system and L/T

I have to say the LLT crowd has simmered down.

So, we have sealed, ported, PR, IB, Horn,LLT (ported on steroids)......is that it ?
