Newbie with hookup problems here, sorry guys, appreciate the help.

Want to hook up a:

Tosh 32 direct view with Colorstream, component cables, to my digital cable box to my DVD player to my receiver. All my manuals tell me to do something differently.

I'm getting audio but no video. The Tosh has a menu choice of TV, video1, video2, video3. Prior to getting the cable and receiver I've set it on video3 to play DVDs.

I have AR MS292s, monster S video and the standard red, white and yellow plugs that come with the TV.

Please help out a video challenged guy

:( :( thanks

not sure this should go in the audio theory, setup and chat section, more like video.

that being said, make sure that video is going from the dvd player to the tv. If you want to be all snazzy, have it go through the receiver; that way, you can just use the receiver remote to start video and audio simultaneously.

first, just try it with the yellow cable. take one from the dvd to the receiver (probably the same place you plugged in the audio, but make sure it's an input), and then go from the 'monitor' section of the receiver to the tv. the receiver will then allow the dvd input to go through to your monitor. Then, once you've got your dvd audio coming out, cycle through your tv inputs to see where the signal is.

make sure that you plug your yellow cable into an input for the tv, not an output.

If you've got a nice receiver, it'll have component (red, green, blue) inputs and outputs as well. in that case, and you have component outs on your dvd player, connect component from your dvd player to your receiver, and then component from your receiver to the tv. it's the same drill as the yellow cables, just three cables instead of one. You can do the same with svideo as well.

Tracer don't confuse the guy.... don't try to run your dvd player through your reciever it won't get ya anything but hassle. Just make sure you have componant in on your tv... not all tv's have it.. if you do then see what label it is under (video 1, 2 etc..) and put your tv on that.. make sure there is no switch on your dvd player that enables color stream out.. other then that it should work.
