no sound with AVS video editor

using mts files and making normal dvd with AVS video editor the music(mp3) overlay is not audible on a standard dvd recorder/player but is perfect on my HD dvd recorder/player. (I will be sending the dvds to friends) You can hear the sound from the original mts file ok and I have tried playing with the sound volume controls

Also should I be able to hear the music on preview?
