No Xbox Image on X1!!

542 Views 15 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  deadman
I recently purchased the Xbox High Definition AV Pack. And I have not been able to get an image on the X1.!!

Could it be perhaps that I confused this Xbox High Definition AV Pack with a component video output??? Is the X1 HD Ready?? How come I wont get an image??

Any comments and help are welcome.

Thanks

If you connect the XBox to the X1 through the s-video input with either a component cable & adapter or just a S-video cable you have to turn off 480p, 720p & 1080i. If you connect the XBox to the X1 through the PC input you have to enable 480p, 720p & 1080i.
Thanks a lot CO1 !

But how do I enable or disable 480p, 720p & 1080i.???? On the Xbox or onthe Projector??

I'm a bit confused..

thanks a million.
jgadea-

The switch is made through the Xbox, not the X1.

Ryan
I am getting my X1 in the next few days, so I will have a more definite answer for you then, but in the meantime, you might want to check this thread: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=244475

It talks about how the dashboard (the xbox screen where you can pick all kinds of options for your games and whatnot is not 480p, it's 480i. I have heard this before from others and believe it to be a fact. Have you actually tried playing a game (put the disk in)? Supposedly, when you are in the game, there is no issue, it's just the dashboard.

Oh and before you wonder, the XBox only does 480i for DVD's. No progressive scan there.

Like I said, I will have a more definitive answer for you in a couple days.

Thanks to everyone!!

Ryan, Ive never seen the option to switch to 480p on the xbox dashboard. Where is that located???

Don, thanks for your post. But the link you mention refers to modded xboxes.. I'm not sure it would work for mine.. But I did try to play putting the game Fifa 2003. And nothing! I knew the dashboard was not gonna be seen, and I supposed the game would run smoothly but nothing..

I'll keep you posted.

thanxs again!!

Darnit, I don't know. My brother-in-law brings over his Xbox, but I don't know how to configure it. (Sorry, my post was a little misleading.) But I do know there is nothing to switch within the X1- perhaps the Xbox automatically detects the signal on the game through a flag or something? I'm surporised there are no directions that help you out with this!
Thanks again Ryan!

I'll let you know when I figure it out.

If anyone has usefull info would be appreciated..
You need to connect the XBox using the component adaptor that came with the projector plug it into the S-Video port. Then with a Cd not in the XBox turn it on. The dashboard should come up. Then in the Video settings turn on 480p, 720p and 1080i. After you save the settings turn off the XBox. Then you reconnect it using a VGA to conponent adaptor cable. I use a BNC to VGA cable with adaptors on the ends of the BNC. You only need to use the red, green, and blue cables. Then when you put it a game it should work. If you do not have this cable and still using the the conponent into S-Video port then you CAN'T play in 480p so turn it off.

What cables do you have?
Hi I am the guy who posted the thread donholio linked too so if I can help you let me know...

I have the high density av pack for xbox and the bnc cable with rca ends mentioned above. I used the method on my thread to change the default 480i m$dash to 480p which will work with your x1 without having to switch the cables around. It takes an xbox modchip tho but they aren't very much money for the advantages they offer. 8 )

That is not true..

With the addition of a modchip you can modify certain files to play the dvd's in 480p which I can also help people to set up if they are interested..

As they say knowledge is power hehe

Hey DJ Cali, thanks a lot for your explanation...

I'm going to try it when I get home.. Sounds simple enough!

Thanks again...
Hey Deadman... thanks for your advice...

I might seem a little dumb but I don't recall seeing a menu on the dashboard where yyou can choose 480p or 720p.....

10-4
Your HD pack needs to be connected in order to be able to select 480p,720. It aslo needs to be connected to change your audio settings to surround sound.
Thanks a million DJ Cali!!

I was able to make it work just fine!

And it looks terrific....

ARe there games with better resolution??? Will I be able to notice it on the X1????

Thanks again DJ...

NBA 2K3, World Series Baseball 2K3 and Dragons Lair 3D

Of those I've only tried NBA 2K3. It's different, not necessarily better because it uses the resolution to put more on the screen. Since the X1 doesn't actually do 720P it doesn't make anything easier to see, just everything is smaller.

Not many people are actually dumb here, just certain people know how to do one thing while the others know something different. I'm sure there are plenty of things I'd call my self dumb for... 8 ) But that's the point of forums Isn't it??
