Is there anyway to determine the noise floor of differenct power amplifiers? for example my old av amp had quite a lot of hiss. When I changed from av amp to av decoder and poweramps the noisefloor was virtually nil.

I am considering a ATI 1807 and wondering if hiss at idle would be greater than the ones i have now.

Compare SNR, the higher the better. Note SNR is typically referenced to full-scale output, so if two amps have the same SNR but different output (Wattage) ratings the noise floor will be different.

This is another one of those frustrating questions where the poster specifically asks for a comparison between two amplifiers and forgets to name one of them!

The only answer that is reasonable at this point is; "Yes or no". ;-)
