Most anamorphic scalers simply stretch the image linearly horizontally or vertically so that it's "right" (...which usually means "fill the screen nicely...")


But some TVs have non-linear horizontal scaling (hourglass, waterglass etc) so that things are more stretched at the edges than in the middle. This is often used when putting 4:3 material on a 16:9 display


Does anyone know the algorigthms for these stretches, and which TVs or processors look the best?
