Well I am getting a 40" 1080P Samsung LCD. I have a PS3 and a 360 already. Anways I have heard the speakers are bad on the lcd, so I might invest in a HTIB. I want to get surround sound on my PS3,360, and TV all. So if I get a HTIB with no HDMI inputs, can I do this still? I was thinking, just take an optical cable and hook it up into my optical out on the TV and optical in on the HTIB. Will that work?

No. Most TVs output surround sound from the optical out only when using their own tuner. Therefore using optical cable the PS3, 360, and cable box if you are using one would all be in surround sound only if each was connected to the HTIB. You could get a 3 way optical switch and do it that way. Most HTIB do not have 3 digital audio inputs. Some do.

So what is the best way to do it, if I got a HTIB that doesn't HDMI inputs?

Either get a HTIB with enough digital audio inputs or use a switch.
