In my current setup, I have a Denon receiver with component video signal to my plasma. The cable is in the wall and no way to upgrade to HDMI. My Denon receiver is now dead and I've been looking at newer systems such as the Pioneer VSX-1019AH-K. My Question is this: Can my inputs (blu ray, directv, etc) be HDMI and my plasma remain component video out? Thanks in advance...

no.

i am not aware of any avr that will transcode an hdmi input to a component output...

that doesn't mean there aren't any... but i'm not aware of them...

you could always try to pull a hdmi cable... unless it's really tight in there, it should be possible...

of course, "should" doesn't always mean "can"...

good luck.

Unfortunately HDMI licencing does not allow for a copy protected signal to be converted back to a HD analog signal. Even though it is just copy protected signals that cannot be converted I do not know of a manufacturer that allows for non copy protected devices to be converted to analog.

I have heard of a few "black boxes" that will do what you are looking for but they are not licenced.
