I recently bought the Harman Kardon SB26 after sampling several soundbars at Best Buy.  After a week of trying it out, I'm just not satisfied with the highs coming out of it.  I'm not sure if it's my setup (I have it hooked up through the optical cable, sitting on a TV stand), but it sure seemed to sound a lot better at the store (don't they always?).  I actually called HK support to ask if there was a more optimal way to set up the soundbar, but they were no help.  I've decided to exchange the soundbar tomorrow, but I'm at a loss as to which one to try next.  I love the bass that the 10" woofer provides with this system, but I expected a lot more crispness from a brand like HK.  Am I expecting too much from a soundbar or is there another model that might do the trick?  Price range: $350-$750.  Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

I tried a lot of sound bars but not the Harman Kardon. The JVC was decent for cheap followed but the Pioneer was very good for not much more money. The next step up was steeper with a retail of $800 and in no particular order: Paradigm, Atlantic Technology (aka Outlaw) and Sonos were the ones I liked. Only the Paradigm came with a sub for that price. I liked the higher end Yamahas especially for surround sound but out of your price range and they don't come with a sub either. There are a lot of options you just have to take them home and try them. That's what I did.
