Sorry for asking this here, but I was not sure where else to go. This has to do with headphones and the "fabric" wire... or should that be fabric "wire"... Is it even considered wire or fabric?... hmm.

Anyway, over the years I've broken my fair share of headphones or headsets and many times the only problem is that the connection to the speaker itself has come off. If this were metal wire all I would have to do is solder it back to the connector and they would be as good as new. However, it seems that 95% of the time I go to fix connection or reuse an old cable from a pair of headphones that it's some sort of fabric and not your average metal wire. What is this stuff and is it possible to reconnect it?

Thanks.
