Hello,



I'm still playing around with the idea of building an HTPC so I'm just using an old PC for now. I'm playing back my HTPC through my Anthem AVP. I'm getting surround out through the HDMI on the video card but I'm not getting DTS or DTS-MA or any of the same things I get when streaming through my Oppo. Does anyone know if the NVidia 580 will playback DTS-MA through MBT?

do you have DTS-MA audio set to bitstream in your LAV AUDIO ?

I admit, I know nothing about LAV. I have installed shark007 before but I didn't reinstall it when I formatted my computer a few months ago.

If you check off DTS-HD BITSTREAMING then it should bitstream DTS-HD over HDMI. If it's not working your problem is likely your set up.

Wow - thanks for all your help, I'll give it a try when I finally rebuild my environment (new cabinet for all my stuff).

The card has to support HD Audio codecs before it will work. I don't think Nvidia implemented that until their 6 series, therefore those suggestions are futile - just noticed your query was already answered here http://mediabrowser3.com/community/index.php?/topic/4762-nvidia-580-gtx-with-media-browser-theater/

Nvidia began supporting HD Audio passthrough with the 460 card. Not all 4xx series support HD audio bitstreaming.

I'm pretty sure some but not all all 5xx cards support HD bitstreaming though (just as with the 4xx).

When using my codecs, there is a selection on the Audio TAB for HDMI, that supports/implements bitstreaming.

gtx 570 and 580 did not support hd audio codecs.
