Hi folks,

My friend has a Toshiba SD 9200 DVD player. On any source, DVD, HD-CD, CD, through the analog audio outputs, there will be a noise every 4, 6, 10 minutes or so that sounds like a static discharge. Not loud...about program level or 3 or 4 dB below. And not sharp like a DC burst. Nor does it sound like a leaky cap. Just what I can best describe as a static discharge or rustling paper for a fraction of a second. Almost like the spinning disc was building up static and then discharging through the audio outputs. The video is not affected.

Happens on both channels and alternately sometimes louder in one than the other. Most noticeable on quieter discs. Highly annoying. Toshiba, of course, has been no help and their repair facility doesn't even hear the problem, as you might imagine.

We moved it to my system and it does it here as well, so we can rule out other gear, refigerator noise, bad AC and the like.

Any idea what would cause this and how it can be fixed?

Thanks!
