So I've looked everywhere and haven't really found a straight answer.
I picked up an Onkyo TX-SR505 really cheap to set up my game room sound. I have, of course, all speakers set to small and the crossover at 100Hz. I would really like my L+R mains to produce more punch in the 60-80Hz range (they're more than capable). I can EQ each speaker set on the receiver so I'm wondering - if I boost the 80Hz range for the mains, would that boost apply to and be sent to only to the mains? Or would that extra bump be sent to the sub since they're set to small and the system x-over is set at 100Hz?
I hope that makes sense! It's been bugging me for awhile. It's not that my sub isn't set up and placed correctly. I would just prefer for some reason for my L+R mains to produce more thump under that 100Hz to help fill out the sound better.
I have the same speakers upstairs in our movie room but the receiver there can do separate crossovers for each speaker set. Center at 120Hz, Mains at 60Hz, Surrounds 150Hz, LFE at 120Hz and it all blends really, really well.
