So after 6 months or so of wondering why our 50" SXRD was looking non-HD and green, I called Sony to see about replacing the bulb; they told me the model was defective and offered S or XBR 9 series at deep discounts. I decided today to go with the XBR9. Has anyone else been offered this? How was the ordering, delivery and outcome?

some have, some haven't. depends on the size of your screen. 60" & 70"

screen owners are not happy accepting a 46" screen or even a 52".


also, i thought i read the xbr9s have issues and the xbr8s are the best sony lcds. don't know as i'm not a lcd fan.

You may want to post this in the LCD forum and maybe you'll get some bites. You may want to tell them you have a 50" screen and want the 52" size.


You'll get the obvious upgrades in a brighter picture and such. LCDs can have issues like clouding and an uneven picture but honestly many SXRDs were not any better. I recently bought a Samsung B650 LCD and IMO I like it a bit better than my SXRD (and I've mainly been a plasma guy over the last few years).
