No one here is recommending you enter the service menu and attempt this on your HDTV, however if you want to join in the fun and you accept personal responsibility for all risk, feel free to contribute.

a. Go to the DDP3021 menu, cursor down to the test pattern selection. Cursor right and you should have a full screen of RED. You should bring up your Gamut measures, and take a measurement for RED. Cursor right again, and I believe the screen will turn GREEN. Take a meaurement. Cursor right again, and measure what should be a BLUE screen. (Note: all your measurements need to be in cd/m2, NO ftL)
b. Get back to the CCA menu and enter these measurements, then cursor down to the Color Sensor Save item, right cursor to select it, then right cursor once and wait for it to say OK. (You should see the screen pulse with white 3 times). This will re-enable the CCA. Hit the menu button to take you back to the main CCA menu, cursor down to WB Spread, right cursor, then right cursor again, wait for the OK to appear.
c.You will now have to exit out of the service menu, and retake your grayscale and gamut measurements again.
This next step is what I use to be able to take my measurements while still in the Service Menus. To do this, you MUST use MOVIE mode, with either Warm1 or Warm2 Color Tone.
Write down all your User Menu settings for the input you are calibrating to.
Enter the Service Menu
Select the Option Byte menu(be very careful when you cursor right, because the first item on this menu is the FACTORY RESET!)
Cursor down to the Expert Adj option.
Cursor right to select it, cursor left or right to turn it on.
Hit your menu button to take you back to the service menus.
Cursor down to Expert Settings.
Right cursor to select the Calibration item.
Right/Left cursor to turn Calibration ON.
Cursor down once, you should be in the P-MODE menu item.
Cursor right until Calibration appears.
Cursor down once, you should be in the Color Tone menu item.
Cursor right/left to select Warm1 or Warm2.
Cursor down until you see Contrast.
Cursor right/left to set it what you had in the User Menu.
Cursor down until you see Brightness.
Cursor right/left to set it what you had in the User Menu.
Cursor down until you see Color.
Cursor right/left to set it what you had in the User Menu.
Cursor down until you see Sharpness.

Hit the MENU button to get back to the main Service menu page.

Hit the MENU button to get back to the main Service Menu page.
Cursor down until you get to the Expert Others menu item.
Cursor right to select.
Cursor right on Size.
Cursor right/left to select Just Scan.
Cursor down until you see NR.
Cursor right/left to set it to OFF.
Hit the MENU button to get back to the main Service Menu page.
Now, cursor down until you get back to the Expert Settings menu.
Cursor right to select.
Cursor down to the P-Mode setting.
Cursor right to select.
Cursor right again. ( you should see the screen sort of pulse).
You can now take measurements that match your user menu settings while in the service menus. To minimize interference, I will select a single menu item, so its just a small bar in on the screen.
OK, now to calibrate the Gamut and grayscale.
Go to the Desaturation menu, verify the Desaturation MODE is set to the Gamut you are going to use in the User Menu.
Take a full measurements run now of grayscale and gamut. You should save it, and compare it to what it was in the user menus, just to make sure. There may be some minor differences, which happens, but nothing glaringly different, like the Y has jumped way up.
To adjust your primaries and secondaries, you will need to go to the Desaturation menu.
Cursor down to the first color you need to change for the Gamut you are using.
Cursor right on the x setting for that color.
Using continuous readings, you can vary the x or y to move that color. When you change an item, you need to cursor up or down to make it take effect immediately. Then take a few readings until the readings settle back down.
Do this for each primary color, then take another set of Gamut measurements.
If the primaries look good, go after the secondaries.
After adjusting them, you'll want to remeasure grayscale and gamut again. If the gamut is good, but grayscale is out of adjustment, you'll have to correct it next. If gamut still needs tweaking, go back over it again. Then of course you need to remeasure everything again.
Grayscale coarse adjustment:
Go back to the main Service Menu, cursor up/down to the Cinema CCA menu. Cursor right to select it.
Cursor down to either the Warm1 or Warm2 x,y adjustments(whichever you set up in the Expert settings).
Bring up your grayscale measurement graphs. Set your input signal to send a t50% stim screen. Start taking continuous readings at 50% stim.
Now, as you cursor left/right on the x and y coordinates, you will see the colors align to your white point. When that's completed, you will want to take a full set of grayscale and gamut runs to see what you have to adjust next.
You will use the WB menu to adjust the offset and gains of the grayscale the same way you set the 50% stim, until you get grayscale smoothed out. I would recommend measuring 30% and 80% and adjusting to those.
When you finally get done with the settings, exit out of the service menus , and take another set of measurements. Verify your black and contrast levels as well.
You'll note, when you go to the User menus and select the MODE, it will now say Calibration instead of Movie. It will also lock out most of the normally changeable settings.

General Notes: Dynamic mode is pretty much regarded as useless, and intended for store demo purposes only. Standard is probably more preferable. Movie mode reportedly has the best D6500 color temp tracking.
You should adjust the contrast, brightness, color, gamma, etc. control for what looks correct for your set suing a calibration disk like the AVCHD disk, or Digital Video Essentials (DVE). So, some of the specific settings below are what worked for me, but may not work for you. However, as a general rule, recommended settings everyone should consider using are:

Check out the Google Docs spreadsheet of other users settings Add your own to the spreadsheet, but please do not delete or change the format of the sheet, or I will have to lock it down.
HDMI black level may be grayed out and set to Auto for cable viewing. It is also grayed out for Blu Ray playback, (providing your machine is outputting a YPb signal). This setting only affects, and is only changeable with RGB signals, such as at the PS3 XMB dashboard, or a PC.
HDMI black level = normal tells the TV to expect "normal" PC RGB 0-255 levels. HDMI black level = Low tells the TV to expect it's input to have video RGB 16-235 levels, and the TV will expand these by lowering 16 to 0 and raising 235 to 255. When viewing an RGB encoded source, if your picture is too light and blacks are not very black, or if blacks are too dark and you loose a lot of shadow detail, try switching to the other setting.
PS3 Recommended Settings:
From PS3 Settings->Display settings menu: (Note you can also adjust these while watching a movie by using the triangle button and going to the AV Display settings icon)
Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr Super-White: On (Allows blacker than black and whiter than whites to be passed)
RGB Full Range: Full (** This is to optimize it for PC RGB levels, such as games **)
PS3 Settings->BD/DVD Settings
BD/DVD Video Output Format (HMDI): Y Pb/Cb Pr/Cr [Automatic is also OK. Note that on Auto, for Blu Ray's, it will send video as Y Pb, and for games and the XMB dashboard it will be RGB.]

Picture Options:

With the RGB Full Range set to Full, then the HDMI Black Level in the TV's Picture Options menu should be set to Normal. With the RGB Full Range set to Limited, then the HDMI Black Level in the TV's Picture Options menu should be set to Low.
Either way is "OK", as long as you keep them consistent. You should see virtually no difference between RGB Full/HDMI Normal and RGB Limited/HDMI Low. You should not have to adjust your contrast or brightness when switching between settings. The only difference that may be apparent, is some slight color banding in one mode or the other. Note that most people on this site will tell you that RGB limited is the correct setting. This *may* be true for *their* sets, but is really a recommendation to optimize it for video level encoded sources. However, since you can set these up to use YPb output, and our sets can support the full PC RGB range, therefor I feel it is better to recommend setting it up to optimize PC level material, such as games.

So far the settings have worked very well for the HL61A750 users, and some mixed results with the 67" version.
Even though I initially set brightness up for 42, anywhere up to 50 will still be good, with the minimal black crush from 45 to 50.

As usual, be very careful on what you are changing in the Service Menu!
First off, the hex code for creating a Service Menu button(for those of you that use universal remotes, and have a way to convert this to the format your remote needs)

To enter Service Mode, you would hit the INFO button followed quickly by the new SERVICE button. To exit service menu, you would press the SERVICE button twice.
Modifying and Keeping your Movie Mode settings:
You will need to set this for each input that you use.
With the TV off,
Enter the Service Menu using Mute-1-8-2-Power on the remote.
Cursor RIGHT on OptionByte Menu
Cursor DOWN until you get to Expert Adj. (OFF if you've never enabled it)
Cursor RIGHT to Select it.
Cursor RIGHT to toggle on/off, Leave it set to ON.
Hit MENU button on remote to take you out of this menu.
Cursor DOWN until you get to Expert Settings.
Cursor RIGHT to select Calibration.

*From this point, you can just cursor DOWN to get to the next item, no need to hit MENU on the remote.

The difference between Movie and Calibration in this menu will be:
Calibration mode will gray out picture settings in the user menus, using settings you set up in the Expert Menus.
You will notice that your Picture Mode settings will now be: Dynamic, Standard, Calibration(instead of Movie). When you power back on your TV, you will come up in Picture Mode 'Calibration', but only on the input you started the system menu in. On the other inputs, you will have to change your picture mode to Calibration.
P-MODE Movie will only retain your Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness, Color, and Tint Settings, you may have to go into Detailed Settings and Picture Options and set those to where you want.
Cursor DOWN to Color Tone.

In the user menu everything is the same as before except:

Now for the testing--I went over to my friend's house yesterday to help set up his new 67 with 1007.4 firmware. I first plugged in the CNET settings. The Delta E's are

0=40.5, 10=1.9, 20=7.2, 30=16.8, 40=15.6, 50=16.5, 60=16.0, 70=15.5, 80=16.2, 90=15.2, 100=15.4

After that, I entered in my service menu/user menu settings and measured:
GREYSCALE Gamma=2.23
0=34.2, 10=6.1, 20=1.2, 30=1.9, 40=3.0, 50=3.2, 60=2.9, 70=3.1, 80=2.3, 90=3.2, 100=2.9

Red=2.3, Green=5.5, Blue=8.7, Yellow=9.4, Cyan=6.0, Magenta=6.5
Amusingly his red is actually more accurate than mine was but my efforts to get rid of blue push on my set dropped his Blue Y down to 6.7. Still close though and if his set is indicative of what everyone else will get, it looks pretty good. Hope this helps everyone and if anyone has any questions (or if I forgot something) feel free to ask

Usually not linearly, as one or more LED colors will increase or decrease in intensity.
Note: this seems lengthy, but in reality it is simple, once you have made one adjustment, it becomes repeditive. I am still working on a video tutorial for future assistance.
Here is a guide line to if you will find a reason to try it.

2) Do lips seem to be somewhat orange at times?
3) Does Horatio (CSI Miami) seem overly orange or golden most of the time?
4) Do you experience a loss of detail in shadows?
5) Do you want a more 3D look without changing Gamma, Brightness or Contrast?
6) Does body tans seem oddly red or not just right?
If you answered yes to any 2 of the questions above, you will notice a better picture quality after completing the DIY calibration.
I have performed many different ways to calibrate and ended up with using this method as RMZ and everyone else should find some benefit as I do not give numbers to plug in (as they are truely useless)... I just show you a way to get the most out of the TV using setting you like. Yes, you can use any setting you like, as not everyone has a perfect viewing environment.
This works on the OEM default CCA settings only... do not use on adjusted settings. So if you used Lee's settings you will need to input your original settings before performing the color sensor save.
The key to a great picture is to setup DVE with color bars, go into Service Menu and set Expert Mode so you can setup the settings that will be used most of the time. Do not set Calibration Mode as Movie2 works just fine and will allow you to make adjustments if needed at a later time.
Note: You must set LED Brightness to Max in the Calibration section that you enabled. After setting the LED Brightness, you may see the screen get brighter. Then you will need to go into the Actuator Adjust menu, and turn off SP and set it at Open. If it is already set at OPEN, set it to CLOSED and go back into the main menu, as you will need to toggle it to adjust the SP gain. You will notice as the number goes from 0 to 75 the display gets dimmer. Do not adjust it further than 175. I like 150 as it is not too bright and very workable. Now you can start calibration... this can be left alone and does not need to be adjusted after your done. It has no effect on your picture after calibration, as brightness and contrast will be set the way you expect for normal viewing.
You can setup about 90% of all user menu settings for picture quality, you can setup your user settings in the Expert Calibration menus.
Enable calibration in DDP3021... this will set the TV use the settings you setup... as it will push the gamma you chose while in Service Menu.
Go into CCA menu and perform the color sensor save, even though you did not change any CCA settings. Once it completes, look at the Sensor Status and compare the three bottom numbers. Depending on LED brightness, and any other picture setting that may effect brightness, the numbers readings will be anywhere between 70 and 245. This part cannot be exchanged with anyone elses setting information.
The key is to make the three numbers as close to equal as possible. Don't worry too much as you may find your sensor status information off by 10 on a number or two. Once you get the hang of it (does not take long as you are only changing two numbers) you can always go back at a later time and fine tune if needed.
Example: Red is 140, Green is 123, and Blue is 100; Also if you prefer to have Overlap set at 0%, Keep in mind Green will have the highest number.
You will need to adjust the highest and lowest values only. Trying not to make the middle drop lower than the lower value. The reason is saturation... if one color goes beyond the range of another color the whole calibration will be like going around in circles. You need to adjust Red since it is higher. Only adjust Red Y and Blue Y. If your TV has Green highest then Green Y and Blue Y will need to be adjusted.
The tricky part is when you adjust one you are actually indirectly adjusting all three... as you get closer to getting perfect, each .1 increment will be major. Do no more than .3 at a time... usually the largest number takes more adjustment than the smallest number. Example: You MAY have to decrease or increase Y as much as 10.0 on the largest, and 1.5 on the lowest as comparison to adjusting.
You can only adjust one at a time... after you make your change you must perform the Color Sensor Save, and then check the Color Sensor Status.
At any time you can revert to your original settings by replacing your changes with the settings you copied down on paper.
Once you have your sensor status information set (Example: 92, 89, 91 or if your real good, RGB sensor information shows the same number for your colors).
Now the hard part... You will need to use the three filters from DVE and your eyes to adjust sRGB in the Desturation menu, so that you get the colors adjusted for the mode you are using.
Once you have the colors set, go into the Expert Calibration menu and set your LED brightness to your liking. You will also need to go into CCA and turn off CCA for final adjustment. You can then turn off the tv and wait 15 seconds and power back on.
Depending on how much you setup in Service Menu for user settings, you may find not much needs to be adjusted. Be sure to check as some settings need to be set (Example: DNR and LED Brightness).
I set my defaults in the Service Menu to push my user settings 75, 45, 50, 50/50, Movie2, LED Brightness: Low, and RGB. This will make the user settings pretty much set for me. After checking with Blue Only Mode no adjustments were needed, though I was very carefull to perform the sRGB to the best of my abilities... may take more than one attempt.
Now that everything is set (Brightness & Contrast) turn on Blue Picture Mode and check your colors with Tint and Color adjustments. If you have done a good job in the service menu, there will be very little if anything to adjust.
