What are about DSE or clouding on the 84er? Any issues detected? How "black" are the letterbox bars - does the LG has a function like cinema black on Samsung?

Those two movies played full screen no letterbox ... I have TV on 21" high stand it needs to be viewed at 10" off the ground so I will have it mounted that way in a couple of weeks .... So far no clouding noted .... Will hook up av connections next week to try out other sources .... Passive 3d rules.... Have a Sony shutterglass 3d TV ... Pop out is better with passive ... In my humble opinion

I have no idea what it adds or fixes, if anyones happens to come across any informationon on it please post. :)
this update was issued a couple weeks ago for the other models. as far as i can tell it improved local dimming and improved the speed of webos as well.

Can I get a wall mount suggestion for the 84ub9800 beast of a tv? Thanks.
I had mine re-mounted with a full motion SANUS XF228. I've had it extended almost 2ft from wall and no sag! I previously had a flat mount and with spacers. So much better now with the Sanus for peace of mind and ease of getting to back of tv when necessary. :)

Has anyone recently tried to calibrate a 65" with the new firmware or recently at all? Would love to know if the CMS has improved any. I ordered the 65" today and should have it tuesday. I have a i1 Display 3 (the i1display pro with pro calibrations like the Spectracal C6) and Chromapure so I'll be trying to get it dialed in when it arrives. The room I'm putting it in is fairly bright with a bunch of windows, I understand the screen is fairly reflective and I'm used to it.

I know Chad had a calibration report but I'd love to get a revisit to this since his was a while ago and new firmware came out that has, as reported, made improvements to the performance of the interface, black levels, etc.

I tried going the Vizio route this time and was an early P65 owner. At the end of the day I didn't like the picture and decided that I'd rather spend the money and get a decent tv. After spending some time with a set at a store I was pretty sold on the 9800 series. I'll have the P65 vizio until the LG arrives and it'll be interesting to do the side by side.

Best regards,
M

Anyone try to remove the speakers?

I know a couple folks here talked about it but I'm wondering if anyone actually tried it.

When first turned on ...my 84ub9800 had a full screen white display ... I think it was meant to be that way to check the pixels when first turned on ... Then it went through the penguin set up routine ... No dim pixels or dead pixels ... I have since had the TV on blue screen only and green screen only as well ... No problems ... The only problem is that this screen needs to be mounted low ... I am getting ghosting on the top edge / corner of screen when watching sitting on sofa but if I rise up about ten to 12 inches to view the screen it goes away ... Was not able to find a reasonably priced 10 inch high 81+ inches wide stand ... So the one I have is the innovex 83inch wide TV stand but it's 21 inches high ... So Iam gonna mount it to the wall but only 10 inch off the ground ... Should eliminate the ghosting ...the 120 watt speaker system with my tv is awesome ... The quality is much better than expected ... So far have no regrets ... Checked out net flix 4 k and u tube 4 k content and was blown away ... Hope they can make a 4 k 3d blu ray in the future ... It would be mega awesome :

LG UB659500 Picture/Motion Settings

Hey Guys...

After having the HDMI board go out 3 times on my 65" Samsung, they bought it back and I went for the LG UB659500. I was simply blown away by the display shown at the best buy near us. Well, my wife and I were struggling with the picture pretty hard the first night but luckily removed some of the judder and have become more comfortable with the set. I do see banding lines which I have seen on other posts...not really loving that but I'm not sure anything can be done to help there? I was torn between the Sony X850B but went for the LG for the OS and picture shown in the store.

I just can't seem to get the picture the way I like it though...it looks either washed out, too dark or too hot or flat in colors. The image always looks best while playing 4k stream from Netflix, understandably. However, that will be a rare occassion as we all know, for now at least.

Would someone mind sharing what they feel are the best picture/motion settings after owning this model please.

This is my first LG but I really like many things about it and would love to iron out any wrinkles I can with settings.

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

This is the UB9800 thread, not the UB9500 thread.. With that said, the picture settings between the two models would be very differant, regardless of what you may read.. The chasis is differant.. You can try these UB9500 picture settings in the links i posted below specificaly for your TV.. Its the best i can do to help.. You would be better off posting in the UB9500 thread as any posted picture settings would be from actual users.

I would try these UB9500 picture settings;

http://www.tweaktv.com/tweak-my-tv/calibration-guide/lg-65ub9500.html

And Post here in the Official UB9500 owners thread for further help;

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/1609066-lg-65ub9500.html#/enter

Good luck. :)
