Can anyone recommend an HDMI Cable @ 30ft+ that will do 4:4:4 60hz 4k ? Ive tried a media bridge and amazon basics and neither will work at long distances :\
I'm having good luck with a 40-foot Celerity HDMI-over-optical-fiber cable, but it was expensive (about $235). So, if you try it, make sure you can return it if it doesn't work for you.

I have both the celerity 40ft and the monoprice luxe cl3 40 (or 45, I forget) and they work fine for me. As the other member recommended, make sure you can return it as it's a combination of all you're other equipment also. There are a few threads in the hdmi area focused on this topic which you may find useful.

Yeah. Thinking to tough it out. Kind of sad that it is common to have to accept something less than perfect, and settle, with a purchase like this.
I'm going for number 3. Why not, have best buy elite Plus and 45 day return period, (that resets with every swapped TV). Plus i found another stuck pixel and a dead one as well. Keep bringing them!!

So, Just order the XBR75x940d over the weekend ( can no longer wait ). Expect delivery on next week Tuesday. Very excited for my first real local dimming 75 " TV. It will be replacing my 4 years old Samsung 65ES8000f ( edge dimming, always have difficulty read the credit at the end of the movie, haha).
I've also ordered the XBR75x940D, replacing a 3 yr old Samsung UN65F8000. The Samsung actually still looks very nice to me with it's edge dimming, but I'm looking forward to the size upgrade and PQ upgrade with the 940d.

If it were any broadcaster other than Fox, I would agree.
Did you get a chance to check out the Notre Dame game in 4K? Just wondering how you felt the experience was...

It was spectacular, just as I had expected. There were some upconverted cameras, but when the switch from pre-game (NBCSN) to the game broadcast happened, it was significantly better. The next game is Saturday night. I'm sure it will be amazing as well.

I am jealous. So far, Cox has shown no indication of even being able to spell, "UHD 4K," much less of knowing what it means.

I would love to post pictures. However, the photos from my camera don't come close to showing the true differences in the PQ.

No worries. It's all good. I'm good with taking your word for it.

I feel the same way about FIOS.

is there a page like the 930D summary owners thread? It's a really nice way to sum things up for potential new owners (i.e. me).

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-flat-panel-displays/2361889-official-2016-sony-x930d-owners-thread-no-price-talk.html#post42293425

**Official** 2016 Sony X930D / X940D Owners Thread

Picture Quality

The 930D looked pretty good out of the box but to get a true and accurate look you will need to make some picture changes. Settings Posted in Post #2 here. Native 4K looks great and the sets upscaling and motion controls is second to none as all Sony's seem to be. HDR looks amazing on this set. Black levels trump any other edge lit set I have encountered including Samsungs JS8500 and JS9000.

Pros

Android OS capabilities and Apps
Cutting Edge picture quality
Motion Control is excellent
Color accuracy and Black Levels are as close to perfect as possible with LCD units

Cons

Expensive
Black Levels not on par with Fald Sets or OLED
Some Ghosting/Clouding and a little banding also artifacts from time to time
Backlight Uniformity
Viewing Angle (Make sure you do not have a bad angle or you will be sorry)

Conclusion

Overall, the Sony XBR930D is an exciting model for 2016 with Sony's New Grid Array Backlight System, but for 1500.00 cheaper and the great speakers you may want to go with the 930C since I did not see that many improvements from the previous years set. However I will say that this set outperformed the JS9000 and any other Samsung I have owned or viewed (JS9500 not included). I think this television would work well for most viewers but remember at the end of the day it is not Fald and will still have some of the issues that plaque Edge lit type units.

Ongoing Issues from some Owners

The 65X930D has issues with the frame of the TV being bent and deformed. If your unit exhibits this flaw please let Sony know on their Community forum.

The 65X930D has crippling issues with heavy crosstalk when watching 3D regardless of using Sony's own glasses (TDG-BT500A) or content source. If you have tested your unit and it exhibits this flaw please let Sony know on their Community forum.

I'm going to magnolia this Saturday to put the 930, 940, Z9, E6, and KS8000 through some "torture" tests.

I'm testing motion (microstutter on Samsung), near black (E6), smearing/bleed (sony). I've put together a bunch of scenes on a USB drive.

What is a good scene in a movie to test smearing?

I wish you would test for banding as well, especially between the Z9 and the 940D. I would love to know if the 940D has the same 10 bit panel as the Z9 and if the processing is 14 bit like the Z9. I can't seem to locate this information looking at technical specifications thru Google.

Before you go, head over to the OLED side and look through the how to eliminate black crush thread. I know the in store set up doesn't have the best settings, but raising the 5% ire will give you a better idea of how great OLEDs actually handle near black content.
