About

The above chart details national carriage agreements with the top television service providers in the United States for all presently available or announced non-exclusive HD channels. Providers listed include the two major DBS carriers and the top terrestrial providers, including Verizon and AT&T's fiber services. Other providers have been excluded because their footprint is simply too small .

A tip of the hat to all the AVS members who have contributed to the spreadsheet over the years, and a special thanks to CycloneGT, nataraj, sansri88, and Ken H for their prior work keeping this thread and chart alive.

Subscription Sports Packages

This chart also tracks subscription sports packages with HD coverage. All cable providers marked above and Verizon FiOS offer their sports packages through iNDEMAND's three HD channels; Team HD, Game HD, and Game 2 HD. As such, they offer a limited amount (one to five games) of HD coverage on any given night with their package. DirecTV broadcasts significantly more HD coverage to its subscribers, typically all the HD games available in each package.

iNDEMAND began offering nine total HD feeds for its subscription sports packages on September 16, 2011. Carriage of these additional feeds varies by provider and market. For more information, see here .

RSN Carriage

This chart does not presently track carriage of RSNs.

East & West feeds

Where a "West" feed is marked, that means the provider offers two separate feeds of the same channel, one on a three-hour delay from the other. A reader on the West coast should probably swap the words "East" and "West" on this chart, and assume that if a provider does not carry a secondary feed of a given channel, the feed missing is the East coast feed. Yes, like most sports coverage, this chart too has an East coast bias.

Wide vs. Limited Carriage

Since cable operators roll out channels on a market-by-market basis, my default selection is "limited availability" unless a press release or someone here indicates otherwise. Channels listed above as "wide" are available to at least 50% of markets/subscribers.

Current Version

Refresh to ensure you're viewing the most recent version, dated 11/03/2012. Any additions, suggestions, and corrections are welcome.

An Excel 2011 version is attached. Users of older versions of Excel can download the free Compatibility Pack to edit in Excel 2000, XP, or 2003.

The latest update is complete. Let me know where you see errors.

As always, please update us as channels go from limited availability to wide availability on the cable operators. Since cable operators roll out channels on a market-by-market basis, my default selection is "limited availability" unless a press release or someone here indicates otherwise.

The following channels have changed their names to it's initials.

Lifetime Movie Network HD to LMN HD

Oprah Winfrey Network HD to OWN HD

World Fishing Network HD to WFN HD
Yeah, I'm not going to bother with these kinds of nits unless it's a rebranding of the channel.

And change to announced for Verizon

Legacy.TV HD
Source for this, or the announcement for RLTV HD? I ran a Google search and didn't see them.

I see on this chart that has Dish listed for Pac12 as announced. Dish already has the Pac12 network and already has it in HD, however, it is in HD for live games only. Is that the reason it is listed as announced - because it isn't full time HD? Also, if Pac 12 Network is going to be on the list, shouldn't the Big 10 network be as well?

Pac-12 is listed as announced because you're the first person to post in the thread that it went live. Or maybe I missed it, like I did with beIN Sport Espanol.

The Big Ten Network is BTN.

Thanks for clarifying - I completely read over BTN. And yes, Dish does have PAC 12 network live and in HD, but the HD feed is only turned on when live games are on.

Knology currently has MLB Network in HD, but I believe WOW does not. Not sure if/how this will change once the two companies are merged.

if you lost CV due to Sandy, go to Optimum website and register # of days without service for credit on your bill.. Phone lines very busy, easier by website. I put in a claim for 13 days without service..
good luck

DirecTV carries the HD feed of ION-East nationally. I didn't see it listed anywhere.

Because the guy(s) here doing the chart consider it a local, broadcast network like ABC, CBS, etc. - regardless of the fact that it's "national" feed is also carried by various satellite (& cable) carriers as well.

Already been down this road with the (national) HD feeds of Univision, Telefutura, etc...

I appreciate the effort in maintaining the spreadsheet - I can only imagine the time it takes.

I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't be easier to have channels listed as "Yes," "N/A," or "Limited" versus having the color codes. It must certainly be nice for those that have access to a color printer, but those of us using B&W have a hard time distinguishing between the colors.

Never mind, I didn't realize there were #'s in the cells that format to the colors and help with the counting.

Easy enough to manipulate once I figured it out. Again, thanks for maintaining this information.....seems that the providers want to make it impossible to easily compare their offerings.
