I guess if you could afford it...a SSP-800 with CP-800 would covers all the bases? At least that's what I did.

Steve
Nice but not all bases, at least for me.   How does it handle a file server with MCH audio?

Kal-MCH on a file server is a frontier I've yet to explore. I would like to know more about MCH, and will do some exploring. Any chance the next upgrade on the CP 800 will help fill the void? Considering I've managed to get SSP 800, and Cp 800 in the last 12 months I'm still learning about both of them. I mainly use my Mac mini or a SACD player, or my CDP 502.

If Classe was to suppport MCH streaming from a server, it would have to be by implementation of the network capabilities from the CP800 into the SSP800 since the former is (and will remain) only a 2 channel component.

So a new expansion board that removes some useless connections (composite video etc?) and adds both USB and ethernet would do the trick for us

I'd buy that!

Indeed. And an iPad control app for it.

Yes, I would love an iPad remote

In addition they could remove all analogue input and make place to digital

I hope my SSP-800 will last as long as my Integra Research RDA7 +12 years and still going....

I would be curious to know how far down the road Classe takes the SSP-800? On the surface it appears they can update the SSP-800 to handle new technology by having several hardware/firmware updates. I'm hoping they continue to offer these types of upgrades in the future. Its a great way to keep loyalty to the product, along with selling the updated version of the SSP-800. I'm fairly new to Classe products, got my first gear summer of 2011. At this point my SSP-800 was delivered with the most current hardware, and I did the operating software update that came out last month. As a fairly new owner I have my hopes set high that they continue with the SSP-800 platform as long as possible.

See Ya,

Steve

I attended a tech expo at my local stereo store on 5/4/12 and one of the demonstrations was done for the CP-800 by Dave Baker who is a rep for the BW Group.

He mentioned that the CP-800 ethernet upgrade will be offered around September, 2012 and will cost $500. All new CP-800 units coming from the factory with the ethernet upgrades will cost an additional $500. The current units will not have to be sent back to the factory, but will be upgraded by field technicians coming to your home and installing the new hardware / software.

For those with an SSP-800, he also mentioned that a new version is being worked on now and will be coming out in about 1-1.5 years from now. Current SSP-800 units will NOT be upgradable to the newer unit, so this will truly be the next generation preamp processor. He would not say what new features it would include but my guess would be having such things as ethernet streaming, Apple / Airplay support, 4K video support, etc...

The new unit is a lower priced model. That will be followed by an SSP-800 update, per Classe.

Really interesting will it have new features not found in the SSP-800, such as DPIIx and so on..

Also when do you expect a new "SSP-800+" replacement Dec 2013?

Just want to know so I can sell the SSP-800 before it drops by 50%

The next best info will presumably come from Kal or others who go to CEDIA.

SSP-800 update as in we can change a board and upgrade it?

Or update as in a whole new model and we won't be able to upgrade our current version?

I have no further specifics. But to me, update means within the original chassis.
